It's important to understand your water and what options are available to improve your water quality. The first home I ever owned was on city water. We never liked the chlorine taste in the water, so we bought a little point-of-use filter that attached to the faucet. This was an inexpensive (although hands-on approach, having to change the filter routinely) way to address the drinking water, but we weren't huge on bathing and showering in chlorine either. To remove chlorine from the entire house, Mountain Water Systems recommends a whole house carbon filter. Note: the size of the home matters. Schedule a free consultation with us so that we can ensure your water is treated effectively.

My second home was on a well system. I was always under the assumption that well water is the best! Around the time our well turned 30 years old, a pipe fitting in the plumbing started to leak in the crawl space under the home. Out of sight and out of mind, we were completely unaware of it. If the leak would've been in a basement, it would've flooded. Consequently, the leak caused our well pump to burn up and we had to replace it. What caused a leak after 30 years? Low pH. We had our water tested for free at MWS and found out that our water was corrosive, eating away at anything metal (appliances, fixtures, plumbing, etc.). Our TDS was also low, making the water more aggressive... and what's up with the orange staining in the laundry, sinks, and toilets? Our water tested positive for calcium and magnesium (hardness) and iron. Even the smallest amount of iron and hardness can cause staining in the home.
