Sulfur

WEAVERVILLE, NC --

It can be strong and, in this case, it was very strong. Sulfur causing bacteria has the tendency to colonize water heaters and/or plumbing and, if it does, water filtration won't solve the problem. However, sometimes it colonizes the well system itself - and that's when we come in! There are different ways to get rid of the "rotten egg" odor if it's coming from the cold water, but there's no "one size fits all" solution. It's important to understand the water chemistry and other potential factors that could be contributing to bacteria formation. Did you know that sulfur can cause black staining to occur in places the water comes in contact with? For more information on sulfur, see our Sulfur Page Here.

For this customer, installing a whole house backwashing sulfur filter was the move. They were experiencing black staining and the eggy odor, from the well water itself. It's important to note that sulfur was not an issue at the time filtration was installed, originally. We added the sulfur filter after the sulfur causing bacteria decided to rear its ugly head and this customer can now enjoy the best water on the block! Do you or someone you know smell sulfur when you run the cold water? If so, contact us today and we'll help you solve the problem!
