Sulfur

It can be strong and, in this case, it was very strong. Sulfur causing bacteria has the tendency to colonize water heaters and/or plumbing and, if it does, water filtration won't solve the problem. For this customer, installing a whole house backwashing sulfur filter was the move. They were experiencing black staining and the eggy odor, from the well water itself.
