Whole House Filtration - Avoiding Costly Mistakes

We see a lot of marketing on the internet aimed at solving a world of water quality issues with a whole house filtration system that's compact, salt-free, powerful, economical, etc. If someone chooses to go this route, at the very minimum, we strongly recommend having the water tested first. They would then at least know what to treat. It's important to understand your chemistry, usage, flow rates, the size of the home, etc. before making any investment in a water treatment system.

Forewarning, we usually end up replacing many of these wiz bang systems... but why? They usually work great, until they don't. A lot of equipment out there is incredibly difficult, impossible, and/or expensive to service. Without routine servicing, most water filtration units fail. Also, often times, the equipment never actually does what it says it does. The equipment is often undersized, poorly configured, cheaply made, has lower-grade medias, etc. Plus, there are many factors a "one size fits all solution" fails to address.
